Xiamen Holds National Conference on Integrated Circuit

To ramp up the construction of the college integrated circuit programs and the reform of talent training, and ramp up the research on key core technologies of integrated circuits, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Education convened, on October 22, the National Conference on the Construction of the Innovation Platform for the Integration of Production and Education regarding Integrated Circuit in Xiamen University. More than 100 delegates from relevant universities, enterprises and local governments attended the conference.

Heads from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Xiamen University, Nanjing University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Xidian University reported the progress of the construction of the innovation platform, and put forward their suggestions and thoughts on how to leverage the platform to speed up the construction of the academic discipline of integrated circuit, talent training and technological innovation. The participants from the National Center for Advanced Packaging Co.,Ltd, Sanan Optoelectronics Co.,Ltd, Yangtze Memory Technologies Co.,Ltd and other companies also shared their thoughts and relevant information on how to capitalize on the advantages of businesses to participate in talent training. The delegates from The National Investment Project Evaluation Center and Xiamen Development and Reform Commission introduced the implementation and safeguards of the project.

The conference noted that we should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches at the symposium of scientists and experts in education, culture, health and sports, and adhere to the “Four Orientations”. We need to unleash the potential of basic research and technological innovation in universities, focus on national strategic needs, and deepen the reform of the integration of Industry and Education. We also need to zero in on key core technologies, especially the “stranglehold” high-tech challenges, and speed up our efforts to make breakthroughs in key technologies and cultivate high-caliber professionals.
